these are the rules for the netball carn...frominet..haha..so just see through (:

1.1 CENTRE PASS
1.1.1 The Centre in possession of the ball, shall step into the circle, whereby the Umpire’s whistle will be blown.
1.1.2 When the whistle is blown, the ball shall be released within three seconds (Held-Ball Rule) and the player shall not re-ground or displace her landing foot (Footwork Rule).
1.1.3 The Centre Pass shall be caught or touched by any player who:-
(i) is standing in the Centre Third; or
(ii) has landed wholly within the Centre Third.
1.1.4 No other player may catch or touch the Centre Pass without it having been first touched in the Centre Third.
For infringing 1.1.3 and 1.1.4
1.2.1 A Free Pass shall be awarded to the opposing team, to be taken in the Goal / Defence Third where the ball crossed the transverse line.

2.1 PLAYING THE BALL
2.1.1 A player releasing or losing control of a ball may not Replay or Repossess the ball again.
2.1.2 A player not fully on her feet may not in anyway play the ball while lying, sitting or kneeling on the ground, and must release the ball fully standing.
For infringing 2.1.1 and 2.1.2
2.2.1 A Free Pass shall be awarded to the opposing team where the infringement occurred.


3.1 OBSTRUCTION
3.1.1 A player may not interfere with play of an opponent in possession of the ball, if the distance on the ground between either of her feet and her opponent’s landing foot is less than 3 feet (0.9m).
3.1.2 A player may not deliberately interfere with the movement or play of an opponent not in possession of the ball.
For infringing 3.1.1 and 3.1.2
3.2.1 A Penalty Pass or Penalty Pass/ Shot will be awarded to the non-offending team where the infringement occurred.
3.2.2 The offending player needs to be out-of-play, where the infringement occurred, standing beside the player taking the pass or shot, and not interfering until the ball is released.

4.1 CONTACT
4.1.1 No player may come into contact with an opponent.
4.1.2 No player may come into contact with a ball held by an opponent.

For infringing 4.1.1 and 4.1.2
4.2.1 A Penalty Pass or Penalty Pass/ Shot will be awarded to the non-offending team where the infringement occurred.
4.2.2 The offending player needs to be out-of-play, where the infringement occurred, standing beside the player taking the pass or shot, and not interfering until the ball is released.
4.2 m
4.3 Advantage
4.3.1 Umpires, at their discretion may allow play to continue despite an infringement, if they deem that stopping play to penalise the offending team may in reality penalise the non-offending team due to loss of territorial or tactical advantage.
4.3.2 Other technical infringements that will result in a Free Pass are:
Footwork, Held-Ball, Offside, Breaking, Short Pass, Untouched Over A Third

5.1 CODE OF CONDUCT
5.1.1 Players must not argue with, nor dispute the umpire’s decision.
5.1.2 Players must under any no circumstances use foul language or indulge in name calling.
5.1.3 Players are encouraged to shake hands and apologise for any offence committed in the course of the game.
5.1.4 Teams are encouraged to shake hands before the start of the game and to give three cheers at the conclusion.
5.1.5 Players should play fair and clean games and those who fail to do so will be penalised.

6.1 START OF A GAME
6.1.1 Start of games will be indicated by umpires’ whistles and NOT the siren.
6.1.2 Teams have to be ready on court in their bibs before the siren is sounded.

7.1 GOALS
7.1.1 A goal will only be counted if the ball goes completely over the ring before the end of each game, which is indicated by the umpire’s whistle.
7.1.2 A penalty shot may be taken after the end of a game if the offence was made before the end of the game.


ANY MISBEHAVIOUR AND UNSPORTSMAN-LIKE ACTIONS WILL BE DEALT WITH SERIOUSLY WITH THE DISCRETION OF THE UMPIRES OR TEACHERS. ON ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE NETBALL CARNIVAL, ESPECIALLY WITH REGARD TO DISCIPLINE AND THE RULES, TEACHERS WILL HAVE THE FINAL SAY.
